Introduction

More Info

Rumi is one of the most famous Persian language poets in Iran. The title of Nativity has been used for him in the following centuries and some of his poems have considered his nickname "silent". Rumi was born on the sixth of Rabi al-Awal in 604 AH in the city of Balkh, and the reason for his fame as "Rome" is the length of his stay in Konya, which is the residence of most of his life and burial. Rumi began to study various sciences under his father. After the death of his father, Rumi continued to learn mystical topics.

At the age of 37, Rumi became a mystic and a scientist of his time, and his followers and people benefited from his existence until Shams Tabrizi went to Rumi on December 7, 623, and Rumi fell in love with him and made him so angry that he dropped out of school. He studied poetry and daf, and since then his delicate nature has flourished in poetry, composing passionate mystical poems. Shams Tabrizi was the sun that illuminated and warmed Rumi's life. Because he transformed Rumi in personality. One who praises nothing but the altar and the pulpit suddenly turned to dancing and listening to love. Shams Tabrizi not only changed Rumi's school of thought but also delighted him.

Rumi's poems are divided into two parts: The first is the famous poem, which is one of the most famous books in the Persian language, and he called it "Masnavi Manavi". The second part of Rumi's poems is a very thick collection, including about one hundred thousand verses of lyric poems and quatrains, which at the end of most lyric poems, is named Shams Tabrizi and therefore is known as "Generalities of Shams Tabrizi" or "Generalities of Shams". Of course, sometimes in the lyric poems, he also called himself "silent". Other works of Rumi include his "Collection of Letters" and his "Meetings of Seven".

Rumi died after a long illness due to burning fever on the evening of Sunday, the 5th of Jamadi al-Akhr, 672 AH. Rumi's tomb is a very spectacular place that was created before the era of modernity. Rumi has taken the heart of Konya in his hands and sacrificed himself to tourists and lovers of world poetry and literature. Rumi's special commemoration ceremony is held from December 7 to 17 every year in Konya.
